About Dale Griffiths Stamos

Dale Griffiths Stamos is a playwright, screenwriter, director and author whose work has been produced and published in the United States and abroad.  

Her full length play productions include: One White Crow at Edgemar Center for the Arts, Love Struck (an evening of short plays) at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, Thicker Than Water (an evening of short plays) at the Promenade Playhouse, and Dialectics of the Heart at Edgemar Center for the Arts.  Her full-length play  Blue Jay Singing in the Dead of Night received a workshop production at Pacific Resident Theatre, and a Zoom reading through the Launch Pad program at University of California Santa Barbara.  Her 10-minute play, The Unintended Video was produced originally at Actors Theatre of Louisville, and then worldwide at countless venues.  She has had numerous other short play productions throughout the country. 

Dale has written six short films, three of which she directed, which have been official selections at over 60 film festivals, including Palms Springs Shortfest, LA Shorts International, Dances with Films, New York Shorts International, and the Newport Beach Film Festival. They have garnered two audience and eight jury awards. She has penned three feature-length screenplays which have been named finalists or semi-finalists in various screenplay competitions including Creative World Awards, Story Pros, and the New York City International Screenplay Awards, among others. Two of her comedy short screenplays have won awards at the Austin Comedy Short Film Festival, and the NYC Downtown Short Film Festival.

Dale's awards and recognitions for playwriting include: top 10 winner (twice) in the Writers Digest Writing Competition, Stage Play Category - for her full length plays, One White Crow and Blue Jay Singing in the Dead of Night; the Heideman Award from Actors Theatre of Louisville for her ten-minute play The Unintended Video (published in 10 minute plays from Actors Theatre of Louisville - Vol. 4); and first prize in  the Jewel Box Theatre's Original Playwrighting Competition for Dialectics of the Heart

In television, she was nominated for an Emmy for her shared story credit on the CBS special Words Up!  

Dale is also co-author of the nonfiction book RenWomen: What Modern Renaissance Women Have to Teach Us About Living Rich, Fulfilling Lives. Additionally, she is on the faculty of the Santa Barbara Writers Conference where she leads a workshop on story structure. She has also led story workshops at the San Miguel de Allende Writers Conference, and has taught a guest artist workshop in "Finding Your Story" at Cal Arts.  She leads private story intensive workshops, works one-on-one with writers of all genres and has done story structure presentations to various organizations, including ALAP.
