About Ken Rudnick

Born in Los Angeles means two things for Ken Rudnick: one, he says “the” when referring to freeway names, and, two, he’s never really grown up. Ken went away for college: to UCLA, which was over fifteen miles from home (or four hours in LA traffic). Ken trained in martial arts and was a martial arts instructor throughout high school and college, but fortunately never needed to use his skills except to defend himself on an incredibly tough mid-term test. While enrolled at UCLA, Ken trained at Hollywood comedy theaters (Second City, UCB, iO West) where he wrote for multiple sketch teams and was the showrunner of an original sketch show on The Second City Hollywood Mainstage. Ken also joined LCC Theatre Company at UCLA, where he hosted panels and workshops with the club's notable alumni, including: Ali Wong, Tim Chiou, Leonard Wu, Mike Golamco, and the founder Randall Park. At UCLA, Ken’s spec Black-ish, “A Star is Boring,” placed in the TOP 10 of the UCLA Writer’s TV Script Contest. Since then, Ken has been hired for feature rewrites, participated in a sketch comedy course through the Nickelodeon Writers Program, and recently worked for the writers and producers on ABC's Fresh Off The Boat, Disney+'s Diary of a Future President, TBS's Chad, and Netflix’s Unstable. Ken enjoys the occasional dip in the ocean and is a certified advanced open water scuba diver. Ken has tried writing underwater, but it turns out sea lions can't read or they don’t get his jokes – whatever helps Ken sleep at night. His latest digital sketches can be found at www.getlaughsorcrytrying.com.
