About Shay Dunphy

Shay Dunphy is an actor, writer and director who studied drama at the Dublin Oscar Theatre School.  He studied film directing at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles where he co-directed the film Suicide King. His plays are American Muscle (selected by Sir David Hare as a Yale Drama Series Finalist),  The Coyote from Coolock,  A Pigsty up off Pico, Skid Row WestDeath of an Actor, The American Nightmare, A Vagrant's Christmas in Venice, Jacinta Byrne: Accidental American, The Strange Life and Death of Josephine O'Reilly and King Rat Smith. Screenplays include Brendan Behan based on the life of legendary Irish writer Brendan Behan. He has also adapted his plays American Muscle, Skid Row West  and King Rat Smith for the screen.
