Synopsis: Fourteen intrepid women pilots are participating in the first female cross-country race from Santa Monica to Cleveland in 1929. Amelia Earhart wants to prove she deserves her fame; Louise Thaden wants to keep breaking records; Pancho Barnes, a cigar smoking bon vivant, wants to prove her husband wrong; and Marvel Croisson wants to show her brother and fiance that after flying in the snows of Alaska, she can win anywhere. With Will Rogers encouraging this "Powder Puff Derby", each is determined to face possible sabotage, foul weather, mechanical problems, intense chauvinism and even the death of one beloved pilot to prove that women deserve their corner of the sky.

Notes: Powder Puff Pilots was featured in the University of California, Irvine, Musical Theatre Festival as well as workshopped at Hi-Tech High. UCI hopes for a full production in the future. This is a great show for theatres and universities with a large female talent pool.
